Berserk
Berserkers (Old Norse berserkr, "bear-shirts") were Viking warrior-shamans who would go into battle without mail-coats; dressed only in ritual raiment made from the hide of their totem animal, the bear. This was an outward reminder of the wearer's having gone beyond the confines of his humanity and become a divine predator.
 |
Berserkers were elite warriors who fought in formal, initiatory military groups that followed strict religious rituals and military training,
often performing amazing feats in battle being seemingly oblivious to pain or their own mortality; fighting in a trance-like fury, a characteristic that coined the phrase "Going Berserk".
Valkyrie's Berserk Barleywine is formidable in Strength, Spirit and Character. The grains used in this beer were
sought out and chosen because of their superiority.

This English-Style Barleywine is nothing to be trifled with. It is strong, intensely malty, and fruity with notes
of plumb, apricot, raisin, apple & a hint of vanilla. Pours a deep mahogany color with a thick creamy head and finishes with a lingering earthy
bitterness. Because of its lability, Berserk changes deliberately and dramatically over time developing notes of sherry. Berserk can be cellared for years.
